Work History

Graduate Research Assistant

Robotics And Autonomous Lab, Vanderbilt University
01.2021 - Current

Collaborated on various research projects with different teams under the supervision of Dr Nilanjan Sarkar:

  • Formulated a machine learning approach for facial expressions classification from static images of Autistic Individuals
  • Co-developed a virtual collaborative environment to foster teamwork between Autistic and neurotypical individuals. The final system included two training tasks supported by an autonomous virtual agent to facilitate collaboration and an assessment task that utilized multi-modal data to measure effectiveness of the training tasks.
  • Co-wrote a deep learning algorithm for stress detection using two different types of physiological signals - heart rate variability and electrodermal activity.
  • Collaborated in the design of Collaborative Augmented Reality to allow for real-time remote communication between users through their photo-realistic avatars.
  • Devised an iterative participatory design framework to develop activities in Collaborative Augmented Reality to allow for engagement between older adults living in long-term care facilities and their family members

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Applied Interactive Multimedia Lab, NYU Abu Dhabi
05.2019 - 05.2020

Worked in a team of three under the supervision of Dr. Mohamad Eid and:

  • developed a standardized networking framework for communication of haptic data.
  • co-designed a periodontal surgery simulation in Virtual Reality for remote dental teaching using multi-modal data such as speech and haptic feedback.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

New York University, Tandon School Of Engineering
06.2018 - 08.2018

Leveraged computer-aided design to create realistic 3D models of neuron and bones for educational purposes under the supervision of Dr. Alexandra Seidenstein

Fieldwork Research Assistant

Center For Global Sea Level Change, NYU
05.2018 - 06.2018

Conducted equipment retrieval, servicing, and installation and data collection in Jakobshavn to measure the rate of glacial calving and ablation under the supervision of Dr. David Holland.
