  • My responsibilities as a freelance interpreter are to provide accurate and professional interactions between the Deaf/Hard of Hearing client and Non- Deaf client.
  • In order to maintain my credentials in the state of Illinois, it is my obligation to earn 20 contact hours of Continuing Education units in the area of Sign Language Development and/or Deaf Culture, yearly.
  • Enable deaf individuals to access essential resources and services by interpreting complex technical language in a variety of fields, such as healthcare, legal services, and financial management.
  • Contribute to a more inclusive society by advocating for the rights of deaf individuals and promoting awareness about the importance of accessible communication.

  • As the teacher for the American Sign Language program at FVPD, I taught students as young as 5 years old to adults
  • The ASL program grew from 2 classes at the Prisco Community Center to 2 more classes at the Eola Community center
  • I started the course with teaching vocabulary basics of ASL to the beginnings of grammar in ASL
  • This course was constructed from my experience with working in the Deaf community and using those resources which were available to me.

  • As an employee of LADSE, I was responsible for scheduling 14 interpreters, 4 Deaf Education teachers and Freelance Interpreters for requested interpreting needs that take place before and after the school day
  • During my time with Hinsdale South, I mentored 4 interpreting students
  • Instructing and encouraging up and coming interpreters in the ways of providing seamless modes of communication
  • Allowing the ITP students hands on time with close supervision and in depth discussions afterwards of situations that were correct or needed improvement.
