In addition to my work as a paraprofessional and my knowledge gained through my BA studies at Bowling Green State University, I have real world experience as well that shows an aptitude for both understandings of diversity and community, as well as personal show of drive and independence not accumulated within GPA measurements.
I work part time at Crim Elementary, where I work as a 'floating' paraprofessional. This job indicates that, in the event a student is in need of a paraprofessional and their usually assigned para is not present or available, I fill in. I've worked in classrooms ranging from kindergarten to third grade with children who range in different mental and physical needs within their education. Some examples include students with reading disabilities, nonverbal communication, ASD, ADHD, history of seizures, and conduct disorders. My job as a paraprofessional is to help the student or students I'm working with and ensure that they are receiving the best out of their educational experience. This could include repeating tasks with the student(s) while the class moves on, spending extra time on difficult problems or reading prompts, and encouraging participation at the individual students' comfort levels.

In 2020, I was the host of an anti bullying rally in my hometown, Wooster Ohio, where discussions of the effects of bullying and adverse mental health reactions were seen by both locals and news broadcasters who attended. Students and families alike were able to have their voices heard, as well as those who represented students who are no longer with us due to the epidemic of suicide linked to bullying.
