  • As a patient care technician, I worked various shifts with many different responsibilities but they are always rooted in delivering bedside patient care. My responsibilities include assisting the nurses with taking vitals and retrieving blood sugars, offering emotional support to patient families and the patient themselves, patient ADLs (such as bathing, dressing, and mobility), transporting patients, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for patient's and staff. My role stood as an opportunity to help/aid the patient in the most basic level, whether that was helping them regain their strength, bathing them, assisting them in therapy, relaying messages and questions to their nurses, as well as being an ear to listen to their life history, worries, and happy moments in their life.
