BIO

My name is Makynin Galloway. I am 13 years old and an 8th grade student at FJHS. I am a two year member of the Dancin Darlins'. Our sponsor, Mrs. Strahan has recognized my hard work and dedication and appointed me as the "whistle blower" to lead my team on and off the field. I am a six year member of Breaking Pointe Dance Company. I have auditioned and earned a spot on the award winning BPDC competition team since I began. During the 2019-20 recital season I decided that I wanted the title of BPDC's CoverGirl. I spent countless hours traveling throughout Washington Parish visiting various businesses, speaking with the owners, and asking them to support me by purchasing recital book ads. That year I was named BPDC's CoverGirl and scholarship winner. This was the year of COVID and many restrictions were placed on our recital. I wanted to experience being CoverGirl without COVID, so I took on the task of attempting to re-claim my BPDC CoverGirl title for the 2020-21 recital season. I worked tirelessly visiting businesses and selling recital book ads. I once again was named BPDC's CoverGirl and scholarship winner. Throughout this time, I was attending school, maintaining a 4.0 GPA, taking dance classes, practicing, preparing, and competing with my dance team, as well as maintaining social and family obligations. I understand the determination and perseverance it takes to pursue and achieve my goals. I am ready to accept the challenge as the 2022-23 Franklinton Junior High School Student Council President.
