Malik Trapp

As a student volunteer with LA’s BEST, I would assist in creating a safe and supportive after-school environment for elementary students. My responsibilities would include helping with homework, engaging students in enrichment activities like arts, sports, and STEM projects, and supporting staff with classroom management. I would serve as a positive role model, encouraging students to stay motivated and develop good study habits. Additionally, I would help organize recreational activities, ensuring students have fun while learning. My role would be to foster a welcoming space where students feel supported academically and socially.

I helped children with their assignments by breaking down tasks into manageable steps and using clear explanations tailored to their learning styles. I kept them engaged with interactive methods and encouraged critical thinking. By adapting my approach to their needs, I ensured they understood the material while building confidence and independence. My guidance also helped them develop strong study habits for future success.

As a daycare and after-school care worker for children ages 3-12, my role is to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports both early childhood development and school-age learning. For toddlers, I focus on basic care needs, social-emotional development, and early learning activities such as storytelling, arts and crafts, and sensory play. With older children, I assist with homework, lead structured enrichment activities, and facilitate group games that encourage teamwork and creativity. I manage daily routines, ensure a safe play environment, and adapt my approach to meet the developmental needs of each age group.
