My name is Manuel Alejandro Melendez. I’m a 28 year old, bilingual Mexican American born in Houston Texas. I am a middle child and I’m very family oriented. I was raised in a Christian home and I believe in having integrity in and out of the job site. I like to help others and I enjoy seeing peers succeed.   • I am in charge of electrical field operations in small hospital remodels. Tasks include Staying on schedule, working with different contractors. Scheduling outages and planning electrical shut downs. Supervising and documenting costs and production.
  • Attend meetings, create schedules to execute work in a timely, productive matter, staying ahead of schedule.
  • Supervised demolition and installation of electrical systems in active buildings such as hospitals and airports.
  • Identify and create a plan to resolve obstacles, electrical issues, or errors in the blueprints- ensuring timely resolution and compliance with safety standards.

  • Good place to grow. All of the work was commercial. Some of the places I worked were active hospitals, new clinics, research facilities, schools, universities, data centers, and warehouses.
  • Earned an iPad and learned how to use it. I always had good people around me teaching me how to interpret the plans and details. I took print reading class by the companies super intendant and earned a certificate of completion.
  • Completed training and earned certification card for Lockout Tagout and Fall protection systems, completed the OSHA 10 Course, plus every week the company has a mandatory safety meeting : Worked a lot of overtime 10hr & 12hr shifts including weekends I learned how to be productive and order the proper materials in time to get the job done correctly
  • Installed: Panelboards, gutter boxes, transformers, disconnects, overhead and underground raceways, busway system for data centers, temporary power & lighting for all trades, GTD system, lighting control systems- and all of its components such as motion sensors special switches and photocells
  • Installed: 2x4 light fixtures, track lights, can lights, pendant lights.
  • Flood lights, cove lights, wall packs, pole lights, & exit signs
  • Terminated: Transformers & breaker panels of all sizes, including main distribution panels, Regular duplex, gfci outlets, faceless gfci for water fountains, nema plugs for all sorts of equipment
  • Hundreds of light fixtures of all sorts in the most organized and productive way
  • Multiple motors for air units, mechanical pumps, overhead doors, ovens, kitchen hoods and walk in freezers, including at the source of disconnect- the line and the load side
  • ATS systems and devices including one for a medical facility
  • In this company we provide a ready flow for the data, AV, & FireAlarm cables. I work together with the other trades and provide what it calls for in the print. Most projects we install a cable tray and I have installed many of them of different sizes.
  • Worked alongside the masonry, framers, ceiling company and the cabinets to make sure the electrical goes as planned and the end product looks good for everyone

  • Learned the different sizes of emt and ridged conduit and how to bend it both, with a hydraulic bender and with a hand bender.
  • Got introduced to the electrical symbols on the paper prints and common abbreviations
  • Learned how to prefab in a shop to make the work in the field a lot easier
  • Bought all the electrical hand tools I need
  • Bought all the basic power tools I need and learned to use them properly
  • Started wearing a pouch at all times one for tools and one for materials
  • Got introduced to safety talks every day
  • Got forklift certification
  • Started to learn from my journeyman about 3 phase system which is really common in large commercial buildings

  • My dad's company started as residential. I started to go to work since I was little doing carpet cleaning. When I turned 18 I started to work for him full time doing quick home remodels for landlords and as the company grew I had my own crew and we started to get commercial buildout contracts and only work in residential during our down time.
