- My role during my time with VITA was being a team member leader. I would help guide other volunteers and communicate with my instructors, on-site leaders, and IRS on any issues or concerns we had. We successfully assisted over 50+ different families with their annual income tax with a 95+ precision rate. A big part of the job was to communicate with taxpayers in English and Spanish. Being able to speak Spanish was vital with 94% of the population in the RGV being Hispanic/Latino. Making sure the taxpayer felt comfortable and confident with allowing our VITA site to handle their personal information was always our main focus. Lastly, I was elected to share my experience on the first VITA site run by high school students with administrators. The experience was beneficial to me as I learned to attend customers and show my best hospitality towards them.
