Give me an example of a time you provided feedback to develop the strengths of someone on your team.

  • Situation- I would get feedback from AA's about how when we received a transfer from a different department, they would either not help or disappear for a good a mount of time causing AA's to get upset not wanting to work in the same area or teamed up with certain AA.
  • Task- Get with AA who transferred to understand any interest or offer any skills to learn to motivate AA while finding a way for him and peers to work as a team.
  • Action- Spoke with AA in private asking if he had any barriers, interest of our department in Outbound that catches his curiosity while offering my assistance, and also introducing him to fellow AA's as well.
  • Result- AA is cross-trained now going to offer help in Relo department where he does a great job but also will be doing critical roles in Outbound with always being proactive on doing team lift getting along with peers

Tell me about a time when you showed compassion towards someone during a stressful or high-pressure situation.

  • Situation- I had an AA who lost someone close to them that they could not go visit nor take off. I have noticed AA would get distracted almost having safety incidents with also getting to small arguments with other AA's which my manager did mention but wanted to resolve myself before anyone stepped in.
  • Task- To get with AA offering any help to make sure they were okay and diffuse any obstacles so AA can feel that we do care but also work in a safely manner.
  • Action- Spoke to AA in private where they let me know about the death. Did speak to AA that it is understandable and will offer any assistance as long as he met me halfway.
  • Result- AA got back inside apologizing to his fellow peers where later I staffed him in a zone where one AA was needed. Zone was left clean with everything mostly loaded onto trailers with AA thanking and having a better attitude the following week.

Describe a time when you implemented change at work aimed at improving the work experience of yourself or coworkers.

  • Situation- Dock layout had a zone where AA's would stack boxes to a pallet where it would be loaded once pallet was 6-ft. This would cause AA's to not want to work that zone or wanting to be a loader instead of sorter causing low morality in the zone.
  • Task- Find a a system where all AA's didn't feel trapped boosting the morality but yet be efficient.
  • Action- Removed stacking pallets making sure trailers were available for all packages making everyone staffed in the zone a loader with one water spider. Water spider will bring pallets out while everyone else would either take a pallet to sort to proper trailers or sort one box at a time with a dolly.
  • Result- By doing this process not only did the dock rate increase, the double touching got removed with also a decline on missorts. With the new system the dock was more effective helping with DEA, changing the morality where AA's and LS find the process easier with also running a safe shift meeting customer obsession.

Describe a time when you constructed a team to accomplish a goal

  • Situation- We had a goal of 1,500 on a Saturday with low HC on dock side having high CPTs which Saturdays is BHD's Friday where AA's show up late, leave early or of course take the day. With the goal not being as high, it does become a lot due to to running lean. That morning I started off with 4 AAs and the plan was to drop across the whole store showing risk for hand off, high vista and the dock being overrun or getting dock locked.
  • Task- Ensure CPTs get loaded on time and sent out to their destination on time with running a safe shift.
  • Action- Got with AM to start planning at SOS, requested LS, tracking on any late arrivals to jump wherever was needed to help minimize risk but also dropping vista. Out of the OB veterans, I gave a specific task and area giving any support needed to make sure any stress or frustration is minimized making sure the Labor Share knew the task at hand and answering any questions or overcoming any barrier presented ahead of time. With the 3 AAs being in charge of a zone and the fourth one focused on CPTs to make sure all CPTs were found and loaded ahead of time just incase any obstacles introduced itself, we were ready with an execution to overcome it.
  • Results- OB was able to hit goal not having any late departures, having a good handoff for the next shift with getting the opportunity to interact with other AA's from different departments and most importantly running a safe shift.

Tell me about a time when you invested in an employees development

  • Situation- With prime being around the corner, I saw it as a good opportunity to get a process guide who was interested on learning new skills with my mentoring to be ready for a critical role once peak came.
  • Task- Find AA's interested in leaning critical roles while providing right tools and support to be set up for success.
  • Action- Spent next few months training process guide on the doors by making sure they got not only TDR trained but also learning the departure schedules, practicing great load quality, attaching right VRIDs to proper trailers making sure everything is done safely.
  • Result- Process Guide ran as back up ship clerk sending out trailers on time with no misses making sure everything was properly pillowed and strapped to provide the customer obsession while having a safe shift. As of now the AA will be put in critical role if Ship Clerk PA misses a day or is on vacation.
