  • Shelter , I independently provide safety, advocacy, and support to participants residing at the emergency safe house in the evenings and during the week
  • Responsible for answering the hotline and meeting participants needs that includes but is not limited to: practical assistance (i.e.: food, shelter, clothing, transportation), one-on-one listening, talking and providing relevant advice
  • As a Residential Advocate I work in our shelter assisting survivors of domestic violence and their children while residing in the shelter facility with everyday basic needs

  • Advocate l ensure the cleanliness of the residence, support and assist volunteer staff and support groups, facilitate weekly shelter housing meetings, and perform regular shift reporting and ensure communication with all staff and with the agency as a whole
  • Assessing clients/callers who request services and or crisis intervention.Establishing report with the caller to handle and work through current situation.Provide crisis intervention, safety planning and information about domestic violence programs and resources to callers.Assess human service requirements via phone using crisis intervention, safety planning.Assist clients with finding other shelters when needed if shelter is at capacity.Inform clients about community services,

I will usually show up unannounced and would check up on my new hires and actually get on the line with them and work get to know them and their concerns, I would be making my rounds and taking care of the new hires and would do and actual onboarding process for 30 days and do weekly evaluations where the supervisor would meet up with me and new hire individually to understand where the new hire was at ,in terms of doing good or having trouble , that's when the new hires could address any issues they were having and we would work with them as much as we could,not to baby them but would work with them ,
