My 2nd stint at Exegistics is very similar to the 1st, as a warehouse associate I am in charge of the dock (shipping & receiving) making sure all product is loaded in safely with a forklift, helping where help is needed from scanning packages to sorting packages, a new assignment is helping FedEx workers by making sure they have necessary equipment such as pallets to ensure that they can stack express (next day air) correctly to shipment, I am in constant contact with the Postal Service to make sure that I have equipment that I need for the day (cans, pallets etc.).. I also am in contact constantly with FedEx to make sure that we are on the same page as far a pickup times and if we need 1 pickup or if we need 2 pickups, lastly I make sure that all product from the day goes in the correct trailer for shipment and these trailers can vary from different carriers such as Postal Service, FedEx and Hack Barth..
At Averitt Express I made sure that freight was loaded into the correct trailer for shipment, when you are assigned a trailer you must go into the trailer with your forklift and take out freight, every piece of freight has a “pro number”, this number also has a barcode.. the number can be scanned with a scanner that is attached to the forklift or it can typed in manually on a small screen attached to the forklift, this is how you determine where to take the freight, also some freight can be very very heavy so you have to navigate all of these things while working in a very fast pace environment, there can be 40-60 forklifts going at the same time…
My job titles entailed breaking down products (pharmaceuticals) and sending it to the correct areas for scanning, shipping and receiving (unloading & loading trucks)… making sure everything runs smoothly on the dock and that we have necessary equipment (pallets, cans, cardboard etc) to complete our job tasks.. also being in contact with drivers to make sure pickup times are secure and if there are any changes to be made for the day I am ready to pivot in any manner needed, I also am available to help my associates in any manner of help needed (auto & manual sort, bathroom breaks, distribution of pharmaceuticals in order to scan), lastly making sure that I play a part in making sure no product is left behind for the day so one get’s medicine later than expected…
As a dock associate I had responsibilities of unloading trucks of product (clothes, shoes, furniture, etc) into the warehouse so the rest of the associates could sort the products in their respective departments… As a material handler I made sure 2 clothing departments had the necessary equipment to complete job tasks…
The Floorworker position consisted of making sure associates had the necessary equipment (boxes, bags etc.) to complete the assignment of being a machine operator, also just making sure the floor ran smoothly without problems for the entire shift
