Spokane - I Will Be Moving To Minnesota In July,WA

Summary

I am passionate about teaching and developing relationships with students. I believe that I can better serve and engage students when I develop a positive relationship with them. It is important that as a teacher I have high expectations for all students. My mission is to help students see their potential and get them excited about learning. I have had the opportunity to work with diverse groups of students while teaching in East Valley School District. Students learn in different ways and it is important to find what works for them in order to be successful. Not all students fit into the same box.

community service and leadership

I teach a 7th Grade AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class and students are required to participate every Thursday in a Community Service or Leadership role. Students engage in activities that help our school community.

School Culture: Student work on building a positive school culture for all students and staff. The students do the following each week:

  • Decorate halls and student lockers,
  • Help teachers in the classroom or school office,
  • Organize the clothing closet for students in need of hygiene products or clothes
  • Paint and decorate the girls bathroom with positive quotes and art work
  • Pass out positive bracelets to every student
  • Bite2Go which supplies food to students each week, so they don't go hungry on the weekends.

AVID students also had the honor of decorating the Governor's Christmas tree with ornaments that they made.

The AVID students received the Jim Chase Youth Award for Leadership (2022-23)
