My job is performed on a computer using software programs, as well as the use of a manual counting apparatus in order to collect data from highway Straightaway roads and Intersection filmed videos. The traffic data I collect is used for various applications. The primary ones are :

• 1) The traffic data collection verifies accuracy of state's Automatic Traffic Recorders (ATRs).
• 2) To monitor usage of Oregon's state's highway system submitted to Federal Government annually.
• 3) Upon request, breakdown traffic films for engineering staff who use it their traffic analysis for proposed road improvements and design.

As the statewide coordinator for TSI staff, I also provide guidance/support in collaboration with the TSM (Traffic Systems Monitoring) unit's Lead Engineer to other counting staff on best counting practices. This part of my job involves trouble shooting issues and problem resolution.
