Veteran Service Officers are trained and accredited by the Veterans Administration (VA) or other recognized organizations, such as Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) or American Legion. VSOs provide assistance to Veterans and/or their families by educating, advising, answering questions for individuals, families, and groups/organizations on what benefits for Veterans and their families may be available from federal, state and local resources. VSOs assist with obtaining records and other information as necessary for filing claims for benefits. This includes, but not limited to, applying for federal, state and local benefits (as applicable) and providing information on resources related to the following:
