Special Education/ Physical Education
SALCHA,ALASKA

Summary

I was born in Gjøvik, Norway April 3rd, 1959 and spent my childhood years in a small, but beautiful town called Fagernes until I was 20.

I got interested in the arctic, polar exploration and sled dogs at an early age, and moved to Alaska at age 21.

I have lived in Salcha since 1983 where my three children Gard Russell, Siri Dee and Adeline Eva have grown up.

I brought the sport of Nordic Style Mushing and skijoring with me to Alaska, and in 1991 I co-authored Skijor with your dog.

I have owned and operated my own fishcamp on Yukon River where we have commercially and subsistence fished since 1985. I also hold the US coastguard 6 pack license that allows people to travel on your boat commercially.

I have successfully raced sled dogs worldwide for more than 50 years,

I have been active and competed in many sheep and cattle dog trials throughout AK and lower 48.

I have also raised and bred Border Collies, German Shorthair Pointers and Alaskan Huskies since I was 16.

I have taught children and adults ( with and without disabilities) in different sports from swimming, downhill and cross country skiing, skijoring and mushing, other outdoor sports and dog related sports and run my own pet boarding facility since 1985.

I have taught part and full time in the school system since 1986 in Physical education and Special education.
