I was born in Bucharest, Romania.
I obtained a Baccalaureate Degree in Science, in Bucharest, in 1975.
Between 1975-1981, I attended the Bucharest Medical School "Carol Davila", in Bucharest, Romania and graduated with an MD degree. During medical school, I maintained an average A score.
Both of my parents were physicians and my brother also attended medical school, so, a study atmosphere was fully provided.
In the last year of medical school, I wrote my MD thesis, titled: "Considerations Regarding the Diagnosis and Treatment of the Upper Urinary Tract Tumors, an extensive statistical work, based on the experience of the Clinic of Urology of "Panduri Hospital and Medical Center", in Bucharest, Romania. The thesis was subsequently published.
After graduation in 1981, between 1981-1983, I did a rotating residency in Orthopedic Surgery, at the Foisor Orthopedic Hospital and, then, in General Surgery, at Caritas Hospital, both located in Bucharest, Romania.
In the meantime, I filed an application to immigrate to the United States.
In January of 1983, I took and passed the ECFMG at the U.S. Embassy, in Bucharest, Romania.
Soon thereafter, I obtained a visa to immigrate to the United States, I left Romania, and I continued my training as a Cardiology fellow at the Pontino Diagnostic Center, in Latina, Italy, for several months, until I obtained an American visa and came to the United States, in August of 1983.
I became a U.S. citizen in 1988, over 30 years ago.
Between July 1, 1984 - June 30, 1986, I completed two years of residency in Internal Medicine, PGY I at the Cabrini Medical Center, New York, NY, and PGY II at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital, in Detroit, MI.
In June of 1985, I took and passed the Federation Licensing Examination (the "FLEX"), in New York. My score was 82, for Component 1, and 81, for Component 2.
Between July 1, 1986-June 30, 1989, I completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the 1New York Medical College, in Valhalla, NY, including a fellowship, in Pain Management and in Obstetric Anesthesia.
Between July 1,1989 - March 31, 1990, I worked as Attending Anesthesiologist at Flushing Hospital, in Queens, doing General and Obstetric Anesthesia.
Between April 1, 1990 - June 30, 1991, I worked as Attending Anesthesiologist at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital, in Manhattan, where, among other things, I learned how to do and then routinely did retrobulbar blocks.
Between July 1, 1991 - December 31, 1992, I worked as Attending Anesthesiologist at the Center for Specialty Care in Manhattan and at the New York Eye Institute in Rockland, NY, doing plastic, ENT, and eye surgery cases.
In April of 1995, I was Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
In 1996, I was Board Certified in Pain Management, and, in 2007, I was Board ReCertified in Pain Management.
Between 1993 - 2009, I was in private practice, hospitals and office. My practice consisted of Internal Medicine and Pain Management, in Hempstead and East Meadow.
I practiced medicine for over 27 years.
Between January 2008 - December 2009, I was a graduate student of the George Washington University, in Washington, D.C., at the end of which I obtained an MBA in Healthcare.
Between January 2008 - December 2010, I was also a graduate student of Bioethics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, WI, at the end of which I obtained an MA in Bioethics.
In January of 2012, I was granted an invention patent: U.S. 8,100,062 B1, by the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Since then, I have taken upward of 800 CME hours, including cadaver and fluoroscopy courses.
In August of 2022, I was re-certified in ACLS, BLS and PALS.
Recently, for 10 weeks, between November 2022-January 2023, I was introduced to a Pain Practice in Brooklyn, to familiarize myself with the group's practice.
I have studied and can speak about 9 languages: English, Romanian, Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Latin and Greek.
