Born in Guatemala but destin to come to Vermont. I was adopted when I was five years old, came here in the middle of winter. It was a culture shock. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity that everyone in my life has granted me. I went through hardships at the beginning of my journy but, I would do it all over again if it meant I would end up where I am today. All the hardships just made me more motivated and hard working. My first job was when I was 16 years old. I had bills to pay at a young age, so a job was needed. Started as a dishwasher. It was a very frustrating job. The next step for me was to become a line cook. I liked making food for people and making sure people got their food on time, helped me build time management. My finally step was to become a server. At first I was very intimidated by the constant interaction with people. Small talk made me uncomfortable. The more I did it the more confident I got. I started to make regulars and I was proud of myself. The restaurant business has taught me to be more vocal and carry on conversation, as well as building other special skills important for being in the nursing field.
