MedX La Vega, Dominican Republic April 2023- Spring break
During my participation in the medical enhancement program in the Dominican Republic, I gained valuable clinical and surgical shadowing experience. I had the opportunity to observe multiple surgeries and witnessed firsthand the dedication and hard work of the medical providers. This deepened my appreciation for the devotion medical providers have to their work and reassured me that it is the right career path for me. In addition to my clinical experience, I actively contributed to the local underserved community by checking vitals and providing basic health assessments. One of the highlights of my community service was visiting an all-girls orphanage, where I helped support the health and well-being of the children. This program provided me with a deep understanding of the local culture, enriching my overall experience and perspective on global healthcare. My love for this program and the experiences I gained have solidified my commitment to a career in medicine, with a focus on serving communities in need.
