Memorial Senior High School Varsity Water Polo Three Year Varsity Starter (9-11) As a multi-sport athlete growing up, I had never played water polo (nor swam competitively) but wanted to challenge myself by trying something new. In order to prepare for high school level competition, I joined a practice club team and soon found that I both enjoyed the sport and I excelled in it. I have been a three-year starter on the varsity team; I am a vocal teammate and I try to mentor the younger players. During my sophomore season, we were the first-ever District Champs and during my junior season we advanced beyond that to the Regional competition. My participation in water polo has improved my teamwork and communication skills and has expanded my ability to quickly and strategically solve problems.
