  • Worked directly with Dr. Collazo on over 150 eye exams per week conducted in Spanish.
  • Dr. Collazo specialized in medical optometry with a focus on Glaucoma and a sub-specialty in Computer Vision Syndrome.
  • Gained experience working with RETeval ERG/EOG to detect some of the earliest signs of diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma.

  • Provided complete eye exams in Spanish for over 400 patients per month ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. I independently started and finished the exams and would then compare my findings to those of Dr. Ortiz who performed the exam after my completion.
  • Received working experience with myopia control treatments: Misight contact lenses, Ortho-Keratology contact lenses, and Eyezen spectacle correction.
  • Fitted and examined scleral lenses, utilizing an Eaglet corneo-scleral profilometry for precise measurements.
  • Worked with Oculus Myopia Master, Optos Ultra-Wide Field fundus camera, Neurolens Measurement device, OCT, Humphrey's VF, automatic and manual Lensometry, and autorefractors.
  • Assisted with MGD treatment with Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation System.

Accomplishments

  • Received an award upon my graduation for my community service work conducted as a Lions Club International Coordinator. I helped organize and execute free vision screenings throughout the Bayamón and San Juan area.
  • I was selected as one of 14 students to travel to the Dominican Republic with the UTESA organization. I participated in a mission trip that resulted in over 600 free eye exams and over 300 spectacles given to children.
