I am a Board Certified Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. I graduated my Masters degree in May 2018 @ Maryville University. Before that, I had been a Registered Nurse with 30 years of bedside hospital nursing experience mostly in the Intensive care unit. I am currently working on a 7-nights-on; 7-nights-off, shift rotation as Internal Medicine Nurse Practitioner in a 35-bed, Long Term Acute Care facility with a 12-bed Intensive care unit. I work as the advanced practice provider for the whole hospital collaborating with my supervising physician and consultants. We cater to the needs of long term acutely ill patients, managing ventilator weaning, chronic and complex wounds, general rehabilitation, and management of other medical comorbidities that include Diabetes, Hypertension, COPD, End Stage Renal Disease, Congestive Heart Failure, to name a few.
As a dedicated Nurse Practitioner, I take pride in delivering patient-centered, holistic care to every human being that needs my care in the medical field. I collaborate with other health team members in achieving my goal of promoting wellness, disease prevention and treatment according to my scope of practice.
Competent in the use of Crash cart, defibrillator, Swan Ganz catheter ( maintenance); Central line for IV use and hemodynamic monitoring, Precept catheter, arterial lines; Femoral sheaths (monitoring, maintenance and removal); Vigeleo machine; Impella; Alsius and arctic sun for hypothermia protocol, Gambro HD machine for CVVHDF; Ventilators, Gomco suction; BIS monitor; EKG: Bedside and 12 leads; Pacemaker Permanent, epicardial and transcutaneous); Rotoprone bed Interprets basic and 12 EKG and able to identify common arrhythmias Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gas; Care of patients post Open Heart Surgery, Kidney transplant, Hypothermia protocol, and on continuous Veno-venous Hemodialysis for unstable renal patients Care of patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Care of patients prepared for organ donation Care of patients with stroke and post TPA therapy
