Providing an avenue for students to develop leadership, communication, and citizenship skills while building school spirit and allowing for student expression is essential to growing the leaders of tomorrow. Coaching UIL Writing teams provided an opportunity to promote the importance and creativity of this indispensable communication skill. The opportunity to attend and participate in the STAAR Test Development of the 8th Grade American History Test was beneficial in understanding the painstaking process in the development of the test. Early in my educational career with Clyde Junior High, the opportunity to be a Supervising Teacher for student teachers developed mentoring skills important throughout education.
