As a student teaching candidate, I pride myself on both my academic accomplishments and awards as well as my practical experience in the classroom. I value the fine balance between content knowledge and creative, empathic teaching. I take both my course work and field experience extremely seriously. As a student teacher, I look forward to all I will continue to learn from staff and students.
During my 52 hours at Hubbell School, I learned the importance of collaborating with fellow teachers. Hubbell School emphasizes participation in grade level staff meetings. I observed and took part in grade five meetings, allowing me to gain crucial understanding of how communication and teamwork is vital to student success.
During my 33 hours at Holmes Elementary School, I broadened my knowledge of how to educate diverse student populations. I worked with emerging bilingual students, students with disabilities, and students from lower income families. I learned how to properly accommodate lessons and materials for all students, regardless of their strengths and challenges.
At Giant Steps Daycare, I had the opportunity to work in several different classrooms, giving me experience with different age groups. My former employer at Giant Steps often remarked that I was one of her most flexible employees. I loved teaming up with both parents and other teachers to ensure every student was cared for and learning.
