Throughout my volunteer duration within the Gordon Lane Facility I was professionally taught how to properly assist the residents within the health care facility with activities of daily living (ADL). I had the incredible opportunity to practice my nursing skills while working side by side with positive nurses to uplift the patients and assist them with everyday living activities. Within that time frame I worked diligently to perfect my skills while learning what it takes to become successful and kind nurse. Within my volunteer hours I learned about the importance of infection control and how to properly maintain a clean pathogen free environment. I obtained strong and effective communication skills that enhanced my ability to successfully perform my duties and by implying my hard work and positive attitude I received a special recognition at the end of my CNA training program.
Through the California Highschool Health Academy I had the incredible ability to assist the residents within the Orchard health care facility with everyday living activities. I strived to improve the quality of life for my residents where I successfully bathed, feed, and comforted the residents under my entrusted care. After 100 hours of volunteer service I not only obtained important nursing skills but I captained to importance of being a kind and compassionate nurse. Throughout my time in the Post Acute Care facility I had the ability to engage in the morning huddle sessions where I learned about the importance of team work and what it means to be a true nurse.
