I have work in the plastic field for almost 19 year, prier to that i work in construction. The last job I had in construction was a heavy equipment operator at the Kersley construction company, I ran the back hole, front end loader and the roller. I also worked as a carpenter Building and remolding. I got into plastic because the economy dropped bad, the Kersley company lost all its contracts. A friend got me into thermofil and it was a safe place to work. I'm ready to get out of the shop and work outside

  • I was a line operator
  • I tried to move up, but I was told I was to good of an operator to lose for production
  • I was released in 2009 for a group of people that did not follow safety issues, my name got throwing in the mix

  • I operate an extruder to make plastics pellets for the customer that will molds it to what they need
  • Duties of an operator are to set the line to soc (standard operating conditions), check the mix stand to insure all the right ingredients are being used once everything is set up I string it up
  • Once it's up and running the first thing to do is check to see if the pellets are clean cut and are in pellets shape followed by testing every hour (filler ash, melt flow and moister)

  • Company Overview: The name started as American compounding but the company sold to Ravago in 2012
  • I had many hat here, from a mixer to shift team lead and warehouse lead
  • As a mixer you need to get all the material and blend them together and keep feeder full til the end of the order
  • As a operator you need to set up the extruder to run once running check pellets and test product (ash fill, melt flow, moister, color check and any test the customer ask for), build boxes and lable it for the plastic pellet's in, but in the warehouse to be shipped
  • As A QA Tec test product to insure good product per the customer request
  • As a team lead on night shift it was only me and 10 workers, I had to be maintains, AQ, warehouse and run a team of 10
  • Our team lead in run time and less scrap of four teams, I had to do my teams hours and disciplinary if needed
  • As a warehouse lead It was in a separate building
  • My job was to organize the warehouse and load and unload truck, Label incoming boxes and do all the paperwork and turn it in at the end of the
