The McCullough Substation Mural is a project that the Senior Painting class began in the spring of 2020, and which experienced significant COVID19 delays. It originated with an opportunity to work with my Tech Terrace UNIT neighborhood association, University Outreach & Engagement, JT Hutchinson Middle School, and the City of Lubbock via Lubbock Power & Light. Students from Texas Tech gathered and organized information into themes, using sketches and ideas provided by Hutch art students, developed unifying visual motif elements and final images for each section of mural and niches. By February of 2021, the layout images of each panel were painted in black and white on the wall.

Between parks, neighborhoods and right of ways, cleanups are one of the staple Keep Lubbock Beautiful (KLB) programs. Relying on volunteers from all walks of life, and all parts of the city, Keep Lubbock Beautiful is dedicated to supporting citizen efforts to keep it clean in Lubbock.
