Protect passengers and crews on domestic and international flights against any act of crime/terrorism. I was assigned on temporary basis ASFAM (Acting Supervisor) to a Squad of 20-23 Federal Air Marshal employees. At times, I was given the responsibility to lead 2 Team Squads supervising a total of 40-45 employees. I oversaw and handled operational and administrative duties. Completed Yearly Performance Evaluations, Payroll Timesheets, approved CONCUR Travel voucher expenses, revised and approved case reports. Involved in decision making in day-to-day operations ensuring effective and smooth outcomes. Insured, developed and maintained that employees had current training pertaining to the profession. Maintained a positive and teamwork environment for employees and assisted in helping to promote their advancement in career goals. Established and maintained positive relationships with local, state and federal agencies. Ensured FAM and agency policies and procedures were maintained.
While on a ground-based assignment in Operations Section at LAX Field Office I was assigned a collateral duty and in charge all official Passports and Visas. This included over 850 official passports for active personnel and constant renewal of different country visas. Day to day duties would include effecting schedule change notifications to Admin and Federal Air Marshal personnel, managing mission recovery, receiving and resolving mission issues on short notice and timely manner. Duties would also include disseminating intelligence reports, creating excel sheet reports, or utilizing other computer programs to create specific reports. While working in Operations Section, I was required to be on-call 24/7 and be flexible with covering weekends, holidays, or other rotating shifts for personnel.
As part of the Operations Teams I was required to make sure all Federal Air Marshal personnel teams were accounted for during mission status (Domestic/International).
I served on the Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response Team (VIPR). I worked in a multi-disciplinary team environment and my primary role was to provide visible deterrence within multiple modes of transportation. On a daily basis visible operations varied in the field and we were responsible for providing deterrence of crime or terrorism to different stakeholders. Day to day duties would include daily operations in multiple modes of transportation (Trains, Busses, Subways), weighing the elements of situations encountered in the field and at times making high stressed decisions. This position at times required decision making while applying required knowledge, articulating actions both orally and in writing. Assisted in crows control or crime deterrent assignments during Super Bowls, major sport events, NATO events, or other major public events. Good public relations and communications had to be maintained with all the stakeholders involved at the different job operations. Multitasking, maintaining equipment and readiness for emergency or immediate deployment was required. Report writing skills were also necessary for submitting reports. If necessary, conducted interviews with witnesses. Other collateral duties included maintenance or inventory of VIPR equipment, VIPR vehicle fleet, and Preventive Radiological Nuclear Detection (PRND) equipment. While working VIPR, I was part of the PRND team (4 team members) and conducted numerous Radiological Nuclear Detection missions with other law enforcement agencies (FBI/Los Angeles Sheriffs Dept/LAPD). These PRND assignments included detection of radiological nuclear material(s) during large events like concerts, football games, emergency calls, vehicle parking lot sweeps, and building safety sweeps.
I was assigned by the SAC-LAX Office to lead as the Lead Recruiter in charge for the LAX Federal Air Marshal Recruitment Specialist Program. Duties included researching, identifying candidates for job placement opportunities. Guiding possible candidates through the job process, which included physical agility performance tests, application process, and oral interview process. I conducted and sat on Oral Interview Panels and interview possible candidates. Coached candidates to build effective resumes, as well as to preform effective in the interview process. I was efficient and successful in organizing the LAX Recruiting Program and LAX Office was listed as #2 nationwide. I received a commendation award and monetary award for this assignment.
