Collaborating with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in the ICU. The healthcare team includes Cooper Intensivists, pharmacists, and critical care charge nurse. Rounding with the interdisciplinary ICU team.
Managed critical medication titration, including vasopressors, sedation, paralytics, calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers, and any other medications requiring continuous monitoring
Oversaw mechanical ventilation management and monitoring- including ventilator weaning criteria in collaboration with respiratory therapy and intensivists.
Manage high acuity patients on continuous renal replacement therapy and timed temperature management post-cardiac arrest, sometimes with both therapies occurring at the same time.
Management of hyperglycemic patients requiring diabetic ketoacidosis or intensive insulin protocol depending on patient status. Alert the critical care physician of any change in labs or glucose that may require different therapies. Diligent blood sugar checks and lab values.
Recovering hemodynamically unstable patients from the operating room requiring multiple blood products, vasopressors, mechanical ventilation, sedation, etc.
Communicate and collaborate with Gift of Life in the case that organ donation criteria are met.
Monitored and managed invasive lines such as arterial lines, central lines, and chest tubes. Prepared supplies and assisted with inserting invasive lines at the bedside.
