- Provides comprehensive medication reviews for pediatric patients by assessing medications for illness and dosing appropriateness, efficacy and safety
- Consults providers with any clarifications and recommendations when appropriate
- Provides drug-specific counseling for parents of pediatric patients
- Assists physicians, clinicians and patients with problem solving efforts
- Supervises pharmacy technicians by verifying accurate order entry, pharmacy workflow and production and compounding of medications, in accordance with procedures and protocols
- Coordinate and supervise safe preparation and distribution of medications
- Uses EPIC, CIS, ScriptPro, Online Formulary and other resources to process prescriptions, verify billing information and review clinical accuracy and dosing of prescriptions
- Process insurance claims/hospital charges as appropriate
- Prioritizes and meets established response times for distribution of medications
- Consults and collaborates with pharmacy staff, physicians, nurses, parents and others in providing services
- Assist in Prior Authorization clinical documentation processes
- Participates in inventory control including receiving controlled substances
- Performs checks of pharmaceutical products, including completing paperwork and documentation activities
- Preparation, distribution and storage of medications are completed in accordance with State Board of Pharmacy regulations
- Follow established Collaborative Drug Therapy Agreements
- Participates in professional development and educational activities
