I am Mariya Wood, an 18-year-old freshman currently enrolled at Ohio University. My academic aspirations include pursuing a major in pre-engineering next semester, followed by a transition to computer science in the upcoming school year. Complementing my academic pursuits, I have a solid foundation of practical work experience.
My professional journey commenced as a dining room server at a nursing home in Grove City, Ohio, where I quickly progressed to the role of dining room lead, demonstrating my adaptability, responsibility, and leadership skills. I committed one year to this role, mastering the art of service and teamwork within a healthcare setting.
Subsequently, I embarked on a career at Chipotle Mexican Grill, initially as a crew member and eventually attaining certification as a trainer. I stayed at Chipotle nearly a year and a half, affording me the opportunity to refine my customer service skills, enhance my ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments, and contribute to team success.
Most recently, I dedicated the summer of 2023 to the role of a private nanny, caring for and nurturing two children in Dublin, Ohio. This experience underscored my capability to provide compassionate childcare, maintain a safe and engaging environment, and foster positive relationships with both children and parents.
In summary, my diverse work experiences have equipped me with a valuable set of skills, including adaptability, leadership, customer service, and childcare expertise.
I completed a year worth of college through Columbus State during my senior year of high school. I am currently a freshman at Ohio University.
