I have been working in Corrections over 28 years with a good professional rapport with the inmate population. Personally I have been a vegetable gardener for my entire adult life. Living in a rural setting I have experience with growing fruit trees and maintaining the landscape, working with tractors, chainsaws, and different varieties of lawnmowers.
Schedules, distributes/balances, and guides the work assignments of inmates/offenders in accordance with work flow/assignment requirements, to complete work in a timely fashion. Monitors and reports on work performance of assigned inmates/offenders, Inspects unit and living areas to ensure required safety and sanitation standards are met. Writes reports on inspections, inmate/offender grievances, disciplinary actions, and inmate/offender performance to document activities, to have a permanent record, and to provide management with information. Observes inmates/offenders in the housing unit area to detect abnormalities, problems, or unrest and to initiate corrective actions. Instructs inmates/offenders on the rules and regulations of the unit and expected behavior,. Evaluates specific charges and facts and recommends appropriate corrective action by participating in disciplinary hearings to properly discipline inmates/offenders for noncompliance with established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
Monitor inmates/offenders in a wide variety of situations and activities. Inmate/offender monitoring may either be direct or indirect through subordinate Correctional Officers.
Enforces facility rules and regulations governing the conduct of inmates/offenders.
*Documents inmate/offender behavior, status and movement.
*Searches inmates'/offenders' person, quarters and work areas for contraband.
*Responsible for inmate/offender housing areas. Responsibility includes sanitation, serving meals, laundry inventory, supplies, etc. Maintains all daily control documentation, i.e. logs, counts, etc..
*Transports or oversees the transportation of inmates/offenders who leave the facility on any form of transportation into the community.
*Assists supervisory staff in the operation of maximum security areas, i.e. segregation units. Recommends improvements to security procedures when appropriate.
