I was assigned to the Field Operations Division as a Police Officer. My responsibilities included enforcing city ordinances and state laws, responding to calls for service to protect life and property, conducting criminal and non-criminal investigations, assisting in identifying and solving community and neighborhood problems, and enforcement of traffic laws, crisis intervention and overall protection of persons and property.

• Conducted in-depth investigations regarding fraud cases which involved drafting warrants and subpoenas.
• I was a Field Training Officer to new recruits and conducted over 440 hours of peer training in the fields of Records Management Software and Defensive Tactics
• I was awarded the Life Saving Medal, Critical Incident Response Award, Meritorious Service Award.

Retired due to medical issue

I was assigned as a first line Corrections officer and supervised inmates in housing units and those segregated for administrative or punitive measures. I conducted periodic patrols of quarters and work areas and initiated counts of inmates at regular intervals; maintained control and discipline including use of physical restraint and restraining devices; prevented the introduction of contraband into the institution. Watched for signs of disorder or tension and report such observations to supervisors.

• Sanctioned regulatory compliance while managing visual inspections, work crew accountability, illegal substance checks and cell assessments.
• Effectively interacted with staff, offenders, visitors and public to maintain security within facility.
