-A Field Foreman in medium-voltage distribution leads crews of linemen, apprentices, and utility workers, overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair, and emergency restoration of MV distribution systems typically ranging from 480 V to 33 kV.

-Supervise daily field operations—assign tasks, enforce safe and efficient work practices, and ensure proper tool/material usage

-Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to linemen, apprentices, and support staff.

-Review daily work orders, verify crew readiness, and adjust schedules based on operational needs

-Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses. Ensure adherence to OSHA, NESC/NEC, NFPA standards, Lockout/Tagout, and arc-flash procedures

-Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and replace equipment in the electric distribution system including underground vaults, conduits, cables, secondary conductors, manholes, network protectors, transformers and service boxes.

-Perform work underground (manholes, vaults) under varying weather conditions and confined spaces.

-Respond to system emergencies storms, outages, and critical grid events often working long, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

-Mechanic B at Con Ed is a mid‑level, union classification between GUW and Mechanic A. It typically focuses on maintaining and repairing electrical distribution systems, or mechanical/facilities equipment under supervision. Preparing to advance into the Mechanic A

-The GUW is an entry-level field role your primary mission is to support the maintenance, repair, construction, and emergency response efforts across Con Edison’s electrical operations.

-Assist higher-level mechanics with equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in underground vaults
