Serves as a Deputy Fire Chief, and the Departments Training Officer. At fires, takes charge of responding companies, deploys firefighting forces, orders needed reinforcements. Supervises firefighting activities, the use of needed apparatus, equipment and materials.

Makes periodic inspections of firefighting personnel and equipment to ensure efficient performance. Inspects Fire Department Headquarters for cleanliness, orderliness, maintenance of the building, equipment and apparatus from the standpoint of serviceability.

Inspects the quarters of department personnel for
cleanliness, orderliness and available equipment and materials
for service ability. Supervises the Departments Fire Prevention Bureau and supervises the establishment and maintenance of personnel, fire records and files.

Conducts training classes for subordinates, officers, and
firefighters to comply with State and Federal standards. Prepares reports and analytical data and is charge of the Department in the absence of the Fire Chief.

New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Level II Fire Service Instructor that delivers classroom and hands-on instruction pertaining to firefighting techniques, safety procedures and equipment usage to recruits and current fire service personnel.

Teaches firefighting methods including but not limited to hose handling, ladder usage, rescue, forcible entry and motor vehicle extrication. Responsible for curriculum development by preparing lesson plans and visual aids to ensure compliant and effective training sessions.

New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Drill Ground Instructor; required to lead practical exercises, live burns and SCBA training.

New Jersey Division of Fire Safety Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) Training Instructor. Teaches advanced firefighter rescue, survival and RIC operations based on NFPA 1407 and New Jersey Division of Fire Safety guidelines.

Provides emergency medical treatment to the citizens of the City of Rahway and other surrounding municipalities. 

Manages the daily operations. Oversees 28 employees. Schedules vehicle maintenance, payroll, and supply orders.
