My 13,000 flight hours began on a grass airfield, trained by my father, a Navy pilot. I went on to learn gliding, soaring, hang gliding, and celestial navigation. I instructed in Cessnas and Pipers, and got an ATP - Single Engine and Multiengine certificate. I have flown as a Part 135 captain for a few years in Navajos and Jetstreams doing contracts for the Navy and a university, as a Part 121 captain for two years on BE-1900s, and as a first officer for three operators of Boeing 727s.
