Work History

Pyxis System Administrator

United States Navy, USN
Honolulu, HI
07.2020 - Current
  • Collaborated with Naval Health Clinic Pearl Harbor interdisciplinary leaders and key departmental staff in the successful planning and on-time implementation of the $183,000 Pyxis project, which consists of eight automated medication storage and dispensing cabinets and two electronic narcotic vaults, in three different departments at four geographically separated branch health clinics including the 21st Dental Company at Marine Corps Base Hawaii Kaneohe Bay.
  • Expertly multi-tasked in keeping up with the pre-implementation preparation and "go-live" requirements, often chipping away a task at a time between patient care activities and even taking work home to complete during off duty hours.
  • Coordinated through the Director of Dental Service, Doctor of Health Services, the Officer in Charge of 21 Dental Company and their respective Department Heads to create and update over 140 user profiles to reflect accurate user-name, password, BioID access, administrative and clinical security level, work center/unit/location assigned, and account expiration/renewal date.
  • Single-handedly programmed the medication formulary for each individual Pyxis automated medication storage and dispenser, configured the storage bins to accommodate the quantity and package size of stored medications, and manually added the actual medications in the Pyxis machine to complete the prerequisites for Day One of "go-live".
  • Served as a contributing author and reviewer of command-wide Pyxis Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Personally created 5 Pyxis "how-to-guides" for users and super users and four narcotic vault "how-to-guides" for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Meticulously programmed 74 narcotic medications formulary for the electronic narcotic vault and closely coordinated with the Narcotic Vault Custodian and supervisory pharmacists to configure storage allocation and identification for the medications. New processes provide "digital fingerprints" for all narcotic dispensing and inventory transactions and significant accountability and efficiency improvement over the prior manual process using over half-century old combination vault.
