Markham Isler

Educator/Teaching Artist
Rolling Hills Estates,CA

Summary

I am currently pursuing my single subject English teaching credential at California State University Long Beach. My primary background is in theatre but the two subjects are much close than one might first think. Having been born in Cleveland, raised in Los Angeles, and trained and worked in New York City, I am confident in my abilities to work with people from all over the country. My training and experience in the professional theatre in New York has prepared me for long hours, creative solutions to difficult and sometimes immediate problems, as well as again working and succeeding with people from all over the world. Teaching at Eastern Michigan University has put all of my other experiences together to help other people achieve on the same levels I have. There is nothing more rewarding than to see the lights turn on, and the wheels start turning in your students' heads. I pride myself in not micromanaging to better allow for the fullest growth possible, while also using failure as a tool for future successes instead of a punishment or roadblock. I am a strong worker who believes leading yields better results than pushing, and I am confident you will be pleased with the results.
