  • Organize and coordinate the program's disability services effort which includes recruitment, enrollment, screenings (ASQs) and coordination of specialized services for FDP and now Early Learning and School-age programs

  • Stay abreast of all special education laws (IDEA, and civil rights Law) (Section 504 and Americans with a Disability Act) and the implications of these laws for Head Start programs; provide this information to staff; document mandates of IDEA and Head Start Performance Standards
  • Collaborate with Early Learning staff by modeling appropriate teaching strategies, supporting teachers for accommodations, modifications, and individualization for lesson plans, and delivering quality inclusive practices and other areas contained in IFSPs & IEPs in early learning settings.
  • Coordinate the transition of children from the Birth-3 program, as well as to kindergarten.
  • Participates in IEP (Individual Education Plan) meetings and attends transition meetings from the Part C program.
  • Conduct trainings for staff during in-service and continuous learning through training.
  • Indirectly supervised and trained newly hired inclusion coordinators to support the successful inclusion of all children.
  • Ensure that Head Start Program Information Report (PIR) data for the disabilities section is complete and accurate
  • Participate in the program self-assessment, community needs assessment, and program/agency planning as assigned.
