I was responsible for the day to day operations of the inpatient and partial hospital units. I engaged in collaboration with emergency department, intensive care, and medical surgical units in the care of the chemically dependent and chronically mentally ill population. I wrote the Magnet document chapter pertaining to nurse practitioner autonomy. I co authored the policies and procedures. This includes the policies about nurse led, protocol driven medication assisted detoxification of persons dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, and opiates. I personally rounded on persons who were going through withdrawals and provided care through the process.
