I won science fair

I didn’t think I was going to win the science fair. My project wasn’t the flashiest, and my board wasn’t even perfect one corner kept peeling up no matter how many times I fixed it.

When the judges came around, I was nervous at first. My voice felt shaky, and I thought I was messing it up. But then they started asking real questions, and I realized I actually knew my project really well. So I just explained it like I understood it because I did.

More judges came back later, and even some students stopped to watch. That’s when I started feeling a little more confident.

When they announced the winners, I wasn’t expecting my name. Not at all.

Then they said first place and it was me.

For a second, I just stood there, thinking I heard it wrong. But when I walked up to get the ribbon, it finally hit me.
