As a Deputy Captain, I have served as the RIC for operational reviews and internal audits. I have participated in a Institutional Compressive Review. I have suggested and put in place corrective actions from the findings. I have communicated with the regional office, giving correct, in-depth information regarding the use of force, assaults, fights, and major disturbances. I have referred staff to OIA for disciplinary review for violations of policy. I have reviewed SIS investigations involving inmates requesting protective custody as well as threat assessments on inmates and staff. I have negotiated with disruptive inmates on numerous occasions yielding positive results. I have led a team to conduct evidence gathering and intelligence gathering after a major disturbance. I have conducted reviews of inmates placed in disciplinary segregation on a daily basis. I have also prepared written responses to administrative remedies. I have rewritten institutional supplements while as the Deputy Captain. As a Deputy Captain, I have come up with lesson plans for new hires going through the ICT instruction as well as ART. In the capacity of a Deputy Captain, I have partnered with Unit Managers and written and rewritten housing unit post orders. I have initiated a shakedown of an inmate due to gathered intelligence from multiple sources. I have conducted numerous performance evaluations. I have implemented policies and procedures into the daily operations of the facility that heavily affected security. In the capacity of Deputy Captain, I have, on numerous occasions, adjusted staff duties due to institutional needs due to staffing shortages. I have been a member of SORT since 2014 and have conducted every position on SORT, including Assistant Team Lead. In my capacity as EPO, I have assigned and supervised major and minor mock scenarios. I have conducted numerous emergency preparedness audits and implemented corrective actions. As a Deputy Captain, I have developed certification evaluations and examinations, as well as mentored staff on the curriculum involved, and have graded them on the completion of the completed evaluation. I have created certification guidelines to include scheduling, and ensuring their completion. I have acted as a tactical liaison in the command center on two separate occasions during a major mock scenario. As a Deputy Captain, I review inmate incident reports on a daily basis to ensure the completion of the investigations, ensuring all proper information is provided and presented to the DHO. I have conducted training for custody and non-custody staff during ART. I have reviewed daily logs and paperwork to ensure the accuracy of reported information related to the day-to-day operation of the institution. As a Deputy Captain, I have conducted numerous 586 reviews, notating discrepancies for remedial training. I have promoted the safety, order, and functionality of the facility. I have assessed staffing needs and implemented appropriate corrective actions when needed. I have had to coordinate unit activities with other departments within the facility. I have prepared written reports summarizing investigations into allegations of misconduct, or violations of policy
