We have a staff of 2MDs and 5CRNAs, made up of a mix of Locums and Full time.

Our practice has at least 10-17 pediatric cases per week, split between ENT and Dental Restoration. I have worked with Dr Sears for the past 2 years performing dental restoration on well-child 2-10 year olds. He and his staff reliably send me a work up of any child that shows up with an exam outside the "normal" and never questions my recommendation that the child be done in a Pediatric Facility.

We do not have Pediatrics on staff here at CMC, and our hospitalists do not take care of any patients less than 17 years old, so I am very thorough with a pre-op and the child's Pediatrician consult before I make a decision. We have yet to have to transfer a child to a Pediatric facility postoperatively, a fact that lets me sleep at night.

SRMC is a 100 bed, Level 2 trauma center, with the exception of Neurosurgery or hearts. 2 MDs and 2CRNAs. Very busy General, Trauma, Ortho and OB.

I was on staff when the Category 5 hurricane Irma hit our island with the eye, and Hurricane Maria hit us 2 weeks later as a Category 4. Utter devastation. Very comparable to what I dealt with in the Middle East when I was in the Navy. The hospital roof was blown off, and we had massive flooding inside, but we carried on with surgery, moving into tents until Maria came thru. Between the Navy and my hurricane trauma experience, I can pretty much do Anesthesia with whatever is available.
