Shift Team Leader / Produce Associate Team Leader

While working in the Store Leadership Group as a Shift Team Leader, my responsibilities included:

  • Helping all Customers enjoy the best shopping experience with regards to in-stock conditions and quality of product throughout the store.
  • Making sure that all department displays were set to standards, and that all Food Safety standards were met at all times.
  • Ensuring that any Customers' issues were resolved with the best possible solutions.
  • Maintaining a safe shopping and working environment regarding sales floor conditions. This including submitting work orders for equipment repairs as needed.
  • As Shift Team Leader, I was responsible for handling any serious issues, including employee or customer accidents, power outage procedures, shoplifter or panhandler incidents, and more.
  • I worked in any department that needed extra help, including Receiving the Grocery and Produce/Meat loads. Assisted with training new hires, as needed.

When the Shift Team Leader position was eliminated by Whole Foods Market in June 2024, I was offered the Produce Associate Team Leader position.

  • The Produce ATL position involves maintaining department quality standards, Food Safety guidelines and in-stock conditions at all times.
  • The Produce ATL is also responsible for overseeing the department ordering processes to stay within budget, daily out of stock walks, and department inventory processes.
  • The Produce ATL is responsible for writing schedules, and delivering employee corrective actions, as well as training and mentoring new hires.

Center Lead Consultant

As Center Lead Consultant, I was responsible for maintaining a positive experience for customers using the center.

This involved ensuring that the 3 separate sections of the center were operating properly-

  • The Printing/Production area involved printing files for customers either in the store or from an online tool. This included sending orders to our oversized printing partners if needed, as well as billing for corporate accounts.
  • The Pack and Ship orders needed to be handled properly to ensure that packages would arrive at the desired timeframe. It also involved packing of some customer's items.
  • The Customer Service area supplies and equipment need to be kept stocked and in good working order.

Floral Department Manager

As the Floral Department Manager, I worked in the Redwood City store from April 1989 until July 2008, when I was transferred to a larger volume store in Belmont.

  • I was responsible for maintaining a profitable department, set to department standards and schematics. I was bonus eligible.
  • I wrote weekly orders using a 5 week trend for sales projections, ordering product from our warehouse and direct delivery vendors. I was responsible for submitting weekly sales and purchase reports, and taking monthly inventory. I wrote weekly schedules based on projected sales.
  • I was responsible for training and mentoring employees; building on their skills to improve their abilities.
  • I would work with customers for their special events, including weddings and funerals, working within their budget.
  • I was responsible for making sure that all employees received the weekly and monthly Store Safety Training.
  • I was also responsible for maintaining store safety training records for CAL-OSHA while I was the Store Safety Champion in Redwood City.
  • I also worked in the Customer Service Booth, which involved taking care of any Customer issues, handling Western Union money transfers, selling money orders and gift cards. These tasks involve wire transfer and fraud training.
