· Ensure proper cleaning of examination rooms between patients and disinfecting equipment.
· Perform safe patient handling techniques and assisting in obtaining health and medication history
Obtain recent nutritional history and needs.
· Take and monitor vital signs and photograph the wound
· Assist with ensuring aseptic or sterile techniques for procedures
· Set up equipment for procedures and prepare wound for procedures (e.g.,
cleansing, removing dressings, topically anesthetize)
Apply and/or remove: Dressings, Compression wraps and stockings, barrier products, staples or sutures, offloading systems.
· Assist with application of cellular and/or tissue products, biopsies
Perform negative pressure wound therapy, application and removal. Assist with debridement, culture swabs and tissue cultures, wound irrigation and cleaning
Assist with Doppler, level of pain, edema, assess skin (e.g., for color, swelling, and
temperature) and wound and peri wound characteristics.
· Identify psychosocial barriers (e.g., cognitive, financial, religious/cultural)
· Assess and describe wound characteristics (e.g., tissue type, measurements, amount of drainage, type of drainage)
· Document patient information (e.g., medications, progress, billing,
· photographs)
· Coordinate wound care with supervisor and other team members
· Follow confidentiality and security regulations
· Adhere to professional ethical guidelines
