This CNA position was in a Psychiatric Inpatient Program located in CMF prison.
I was the designated CNA in charge for my unit. I started the day with getting breakfast trays ready to pass out. When collecting the trays, charting meal consumption was required with each meal.
Rounds were done every 30 minutes to insure patient/inmate safety. While doing so, I would chart their current mood, behavior, activity, sleep pattern, body position, hygiene, and over-all status. Any suspicious behavior is brought to the attention of the charge nurse and or officer. Vitals were taken twice a shift.
If 5150 suicide watches were needed, I would sit door-side at the inmates cell. I would chart every 15 minutes on their status and well being.
I personally was trained to be in charge of ordering and counting all of the inventory on the unit. This included PPE supplies, cleaning supplies, inmate hygiene supplies, medical supplies, and some medication. Once received, I would stock the closets and keep it organized.
Ordering inmate uniforms, shoes, jackets, and keeping the laundry room clean and organized was also part of my job duties.

My first years 2yrs I worked in a step-down unit/Telemetry. The last 3yrs I was the designated Patient Care Tech who worked in our ICU department after receiving specialize training to do so.
I was responsible for vital signs, daily living needs such as bathing, oral care, feeding, bathroom, mobility, ambulation, repositioning and suctioning. I would empty and assist with placing foley’s, colostomy bags, rectal tubes, and condom catheters.
Capable of utilizing all methods of restraints, and experienced with 5150 holds, suicide watches, and all other mental health crisis situations.

As a temporary CNA at Solano State Prision, job requirements consisted of rotating between different medical units throughout the facility.
In primary care, you are to assist the Doctors and nurses by organizing their schedules for that day and the following day. Other tasks included taking vitals, complete admission process, and update patient inmates chart.
Sorting through the medication lists was also required to insure expired meds were updated and refilled if needed.
While working in the Psych department, I provided a lot of 1on1 care to inmates who were mentally unstable and or too old of age to care for themselves.
5150/suicide holds where required frequently. These consisted of sitting cell-side to prevent one from injuring thyself. Every 15 minutes we chart their behavior, current condition, input and output, and emotions.
At times help was needed with daily activities such as assisting the elderly inmates with bathroom, urinal, changing gowns, ambulation, walking them outside in a designated area, and activities if free time was allowed.

The other department was for long term residence whom need extensive help with everyday needs. I was responsible for 24 residence who I feed, bathed, changed, and turned Q2hrs. I got the ones who could get up in their chairs, ambulated them, took vitals, empty folly, and got them ready for bed.
