Martin Taber

I work as a Health Educator, Curriculum Specialist in the ACT Program. ACT is funded through grants from CAPP though NYSDOH. I teach a comprehensive, evidence based sex education curriculum called Making Proud Choices. I have taught this curriculum in high school and middle school Health classes in 5 districts in Orleans and Genesee counties. I have coordinated with Health teachers in these districts to schedule presentations for their classes and planned out implementation to flow smoothly and meet the requirements of our grant while also accommodating the needs of the teachers and their students. I research for updated information on the topics related to sex education, such as abstinence, HIV, STIs, birth control methods, consent, healthy relationships, etc. Required data is entered into an Online Reporting System through Act For Youth. Training of new staff is also done by me.

As Family Advocate, I developed individualized support plans for families, enhancing access to local resources and services. Additionally, I empowered enhanced relationships with community organizations to facilitate comprehensive support networks. Developed strategies for parents to more effectively guide their children through academic and personal struggles. Worked with children individually as well as in group settings to promote success in all aspects of their lives. Created case plans with goals and objectives for families and reviewed and updated/modified these to measure progress.
