Accomplishments

As a teacher for school district adult education program and in collaboration with the United States Immigration, I taught an English as a Second Language for 300 undocumented adults who were seeking legal residency status by completing 90 hours of class time. These students were the first to attain their legal residency in the entire Western United States in 1987.

As a Family Liaison I assisted 500 undocumented high school students complete their application for legal residency under the Immigration's program of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). All applications were accepted and now many are renewing their DACA status.

As an Outreach Consultant at Washington Elementary School for Madera Unified School District, under the Senate Bill 65 program in California, the school was designated as a "Shining Star" school for 9 consecutive years. This honor was solely bestowed on the top ten schools in the state out of 350 schools. The honor was bestowed upon the school because of its innovative programs to motivate and support students and their familes to attend school. Washinton Elementary School always had the highest actual attendance rate in Madera Unified School District, always averaging above 98% attendance rate.
