SHADOWING EXPERIENCE
In June–July 2023, I completed over 60 hours of international clinical shadowing at Hospital de Santa Luzia in Portugal, observing physicians, nurses, and specialists across the emergency department, ICU, operating room, and pediatrics. I gained exposure to patient interactions, medical procedures, interdisciplinary teamwork, and diverse healthcare practices, strengthening my cultural competence and adaptability. Additionally, I completed 100 hours shadowing a Physician Assistant and Nurse Practitioner in the Emergency Department at Hackensack Meridian Hospital, where I observed acute and gynecologic emergencies, laceration repairs, pelvic exams, abscess drainage, and real-time clinical decision-making, while developing a deeper understanding of collaborative, compassionate emergency care.
