I am passionate about taking charge in my community and serving the general public in the most professional way I can. I believe in helping those individuals that cannot help themselves. This has led to my passion in working in the field of law enforcement. I have always taken advantage of opportunities that would promote self-growth as I become an even better role model to my friends, family, and community. The skills I have has prepared me individually in moving forward in the path towards my ultimate goal. Every step I have taken has been a lesson that has taught me more, and strengthened me mentally. The hurdles, as well as mistakes I have made is what pushes me farther in life. A great skill I have acquired is perseverance. I have accounted every major life experience throughout my career as a learning one and my responsibility has heightened because of it. I have learned so much throughout my career and I am ready to take on new responsibility. That of which would allow me to grow in my career, advance in training that

Police Officer

Glenarden Police Department

  • Operates the assigned patrol vehicle in accordance with all applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Patrols assigned area to include all public and private businesses and residences, parking areas, and streets.
  • Directs vehicular traffic; enforces traffic laws; directs pedestrian traffic; investigates road damage; removes hazards from the roadway; issues citations, explains legal procedures, checks vehicle license plates, registration and other required documents.
  • Positions vehicles at roadblocks to effectively isolate the scene of hazardous situations.

  • Plans methods and procedures for conducting a search of a person or premise using all available information on the size and location of the person or premise.
  • Removes weapons from armed persons.
  • Advises victims or other involved persons of their rights according to current law and the proper procedures to follow to prosecute a case.
  • Confiscates property for evidence resulting from an arrest.
  • Maintains and inspects all issued equipment to include: uniforms, handguns, ammunition, magazines, handcuffs, flashlight, badges, shoes, and other equipment.
  • Demonstrates a proficiency in the use of all issued equipment, to include firearms.
  • Identifies, confiscates, preserves, and maintains the chain of custody of all evidence in accordance with current search and seizure laws and departmental policy.
  • Communicates over and listens to police radio, issues lookout and other required information while on patrol.
  • Orally communicates with the public, fellow officers and supervisors to the degree that complete understanding is accomplished.
  • Assists in the evacuation or rescue of persons and property in emergency situations such as aircraft crashes, fires, floods and other natural or manmade disasters.
  • Advises, through oral communication skills, all parties involved in domestic disputes of the proper legal procedures to obtain warrants, other sources of assistance and the consequences of action.

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
Main duties require, Traffic Controlling during rush hour and special events. Crowd Control during large scale events through-out
the city. Events include Baseball, Basketball, Soccer, Inauguration, Grand Openings, Parades, 4th of July, Presidential activities, and
etc. Working with a selection of agencies including Metropolitan Police, Metro Transit, US Park Police, US Capitol Police, Secret
Service Police and the National Guard. I have been given the opportunity to work the night life shift 5:30-4am Wednesday through
Saturday in conjunction with MPD's Task Force. I assist MPD with Traffic function and Crowd Control. Dealing with people who are not usually in normal mental state due to the clubs and bars in the downtown DC area. We are relied upon for references, answer questions, help people maneuver safely, and enforce traffic and parking regulations alongside MPD as well. We also provide extra security functions as we create
boundaries when there is police activity that requires us to redirect traffic and shut down streets. We think ahead for emergency
vehicles and create ways for easy travel when there is traffic and or crowd congestion.
