The Penn State Health Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) fellowship is a post – graduate, transition to practice training program for physician assistants and acute care nurse practitioners who have a sincere interest in a career as a Critical Care APP. The 12-month program includes clinical rotations through Penn State Health’s adult Critical Care units. In addition, clinical experiences with services that are integral in supporting. During which I worked an average of 40 hours per week clinically. In addition to the variety of clinical experiences, there were didactic sessions as well as hands on training in our high-fidelity simulation lab. Learning was also enhanced using on- line learning modules, case conferences, evidenced based readings and journal clubs.

• Anesthesia Surgical Intensive Care (6-7wks)
• Neuroscience Intensive Care (6-7wks)
• Heart and Vascular Intensive Care (6-7wks)
• Medical Intensive Care (6-7wks)
• Community ICU Holy Spirit Medical Center (3wks)
• Trauma and Emergency Surgery (3wks)
• Nephrology (3wks)
• Infectious Disease (3wks)
• Palliative Care (3wks)
• Elective pending (3wks)

Total Patient Care including: Patient assessment/education, Communication, Discharge planning and teaching, Care plan, Needs assessment, Multidisciplinary team collaboration, Cardiac monitoring/12 lead EKG, CVC line management, Phlebotomy, IVA insertion, Medication admin, etc.

Mainly worked in the PCU but occasionally got pulled to ICU/CDU. Worked as charge nurse. Total patient care including; Patient assessment & education, medication administration, communication, multidisciplinary team collaboration, phlebotomy, IVA Insertion, Cardiac monitoring/12 lead EKG, NGT feed/insertion, Assisted with CPR/intubation, NIPPV management, monitoring drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amio), etc.
